We have a pre lit Christmas tree with nine functions, the very last of which is the one we want...no flashing, chasing, etc, just on all the time. Every time we switch them on we have to go through the whole sequence manually to get to the one we want.
If we were to chop off the box bit which controls all the functions and then rejoin the wire, properly done of course, would that solve the problem or would we completely mess up the lights so they wouldn’t work at all?
Thanks.

Honestly mamy, it does :)
Plug it into an extension lead and have the socket end of the lead at a convenient height . I rest it on a nearby little table. No bending.

Our tree is in the (unheated) conservatory so we have to open the patio door and go to the tree where the control box is, to change the sequence thing.
It would be far easier to just switch the blooming thing on at the socket which is just inside the patio door.
We can’t leave the patio door even slightly open due to the draft of freezing cold air which whooshes through. And that wouldn’t work anyway as the flashing stuff is controlled by the box which is next to the tree, wouldn’t make any difference if it was in an extension flex.
It’s obviously a third world problem..or one for those of us who aren’t as agile as we used to be.
