Star rating answers

I'm unhappy about the idea of star rating answers; which I feel is open to falsification.
As a test, I've given myself a single star for one of my own corrections in the answers part of the motoring section.
I guess I could have made it three stars but I felt that would really be cheating!!!

Whats the problem with the stars? they have no relevance outside each individual question

How exactly is it open to falsification? Only the question giver is allowed to dole them out.

The point is that only the person posting the question can rate an answer, if you then post an answer only YOU can rate it. It's not as if I could do something to gie masel three stars for this answer is it?

Yep vivandorron you're able to give yourself stars to your own replies on a question you've set. You'll find that if you replied to someone's question, you won't be able to.

No sorry petal, I don't agree with you, I happen to think the star rating is fair in that only the poster of the question can give them.
