Middle son/gf are absolutely mad about their two little dogs- they have two pugs lol.
Son & gf are also v hard to think up Xmas ideas for, but a while ago I found a company that did nights/weekend hotel stays specifically for people who love their dogs. They are basically dog friendly, so you can take your 4 legged friend, and then they have loads of local walks you can take them on etc.
I know son & gf would love this, but with the ever changing rule situation what do you think?? I was actually going to pay for it a fortnight ago but waited. I have spoken to the hotel/s in mind and they are all still open and taking bookings but even so…….
Bad idea??

good idea, perhaps after Christmas...

Well it would be a voucher style present for them to actually book on a date of their choice, and I think it’s at least a year before it would expire(would need to double check)
then its a lovely idea, i would go for it...

Guess I could always double check what would happen if rules change again and I’ve already paid for a stay?
We’ve done something similar for one of our children and partner.
The voucher is good for 12 months, they book the place themselves as and when they want it, all we’ve done is bought the voucher and will give it to them on Christmas Day.
I would have thought that at some point before the 12 months is up, they (and your son) would be able to use it.

Hi vagus. Yes I would hope so - most of the destinations are fairly remote anyway/woodland walks etc so it’s not as if it’s even a place right in the middle of a busy town etc.
right, I’ll go ahead! : )
Smow would you be kind enough to give me a link please as that is exactly the present I want to give to one of my children. I didn't find one that would allow dogs so it would be brilliant if you could do that. Big Thank You in anticipation.
keep the label and wait
Ladybirder, if you google dog friendly hotels uk there are loads and loads of them.
My cousin has stayed in one in Norfolk, one in the new forest, one near Polperro, and many others.
Hope you find one to suit the area you’re looking for, I’m sure you will :)
Get them a voucher and then can book when it suits them with work and the rules
Thank you Vagus I'll do that.
Yes that's what I'm intending to do thanks RH.
As Vagus says there are loads of dog friendly hotels. We have used them for years. And also did friendly self catering cottages too. Lovely idea for a present. Vouchers are a great idea. I did that for my son, wide and dog. They usually last for a year or now so they can book their own dates.
My son's wife is in no way wide!
We’re just back from a dog friendly cottage in the Borders on Scotland. It wasn’t the best one we’ve ever stayed in but was adequate for our needs.
Must admit, the first time we booked a dog friendly place I did wonder what it would be like, was very pleasantly surprised though, it was of a higher standard than many a non dog friendly one.
We have another booked on the welsh coast in February. The beaches are open to dogs then so our dog will thoroughly enjoy himself having a swim.
We have found too that most dog friendly hotels provide delicious free sausages for doggy breakfasts and most let you take your dog to breakfast, often in a separate area.
