i confess i had not heard of the clue before, but you live and you learn

I know the actual clue says scouthering (or scoutherings) which means something to do with scalding but just cant see how this clue gives ONFALLS. Yes I can see that feasable = ON. But why falls? Where does cries of harpooners fit in?

Avatar Image NeveracrosswordThe earlier Onfalls seems correct. On, feasible, Falls, the plural of Fall, the cry given when a whale is sighted, so Cries amongst harpooners. Scoutherings and Onfalls both mean rains, drizzles.
