Has anyone else done this. I love doing it because not only do you have to solve the clues, you have to work out where to it the answers! And the clues are tough!
Anyway, I think i have cracked it apart from one clue.
Of course I might be totally up the Swanee BUT, if I’m right so far the answer is six letters, “obsolete term for disguise” and begins with v . So, va?a?d. The only word I can find that fits is “vaward”. According to my shorter OED

Well i can’t be sure of anything until I make the whole thing fit together! If the a becomes an I ( and it could) it would have big knock on effects! I just looked up visard and that fits the clue!!! Looks like it’s back to the drawing board….,
Thanks………

anyone got a link to this,please/

It turned out to be easier than I thought . The connecting clue could also change from an a to an I.!
You are , as always, wonderful. It now all fits together and , of course, the answer to the clue which was defeating me is indeed visard.
