Poached Pears

Has anyone got a tried and tested recipe for the above, please. I bought them over week ago and they're still rock hard.

You cannot go wrong with these but try and ripen your pears up with a banana first

I will be cooking the usual Christmas Day starter this year - poached pears stuffed with Roquefort cheese and walnuts. Lovely :)
