Oh to turn back the clock to the days of Mrs O, Nungate etc. This site was fun. Nowadays all it seems to be is griping and point scoring.

I agree! Mrs O always made me laugh. Don't remember Nungate though, sorry.
Well it is what it is Maggie. In the deep recesses a laugh can be found.
Mostly , sheer stupidity:-)
It was like it back then too unfortunately Maggie
Mrs O was a naturally funny lady and j had the pleasure of meeting her when she was in Newcastles Freeman hospital
//// Nowadays all it seems to be is griping and point scoring////

Sorry, I disagree.

AB has always had its fair share of points scoring and griping but it is not a patch as vicious as it was a decade ago. It has been sanitized and is now like reading Enid Blyton Children's books compared to yesteryear..........child's play now.

Loved Nungate's parties when she threw open the doors of her stately home. Had many a good Saturday night partaking of her cocktails and taking part in the rofl. The prizes were just wonderful - always remember a box of spent matches!
True sqad. Abers were threatening to involve the police on each other :-)
Being a st Johnstone supporter, I’ve forgot what it feels like to score points :-(
It was fun at times but there was still heated debates going on. What there definitely was, though, was less Ill informed garbage from the remedial class kids.
"Nowadays all it seems to be is griping" - er, like this post?
Annea and a lot worse!
I know. They ran out of flounce forms .
That was when a flounce was a flounce not like now!
Have to agree Maggie. Loved the tailcocks and Minty in her pink feather boa and all of Mrs O's diaries of the village. Great fun.
Sqad is right, it's always been a bear pit on here.
It's no worse now.
From the depths of history, I bring you Mrs Overall - the true story ...

I miss the smut and innuendo when we had more double entendres than a whole series of carry on films.
I remember a past Ed spending in Christmas in Philadelphia, I think. When she came back the place was knee-deep in swill, she spent the next week clearing it out. No mods in those days.
You just have to take it as it is, it goes through different phases, or start the threads you want.
I enjoyed the general daftness at times, it was great, but, different ABers, who didn't automatically want to squish it.
