What's On The First-Day Of The Year Menu Then?

We are using stuff up. We have some Scotch eggs, sausage rolls, cheese and biscuits, dips, crusty bake-at-home rolls and Pringles... all washed down with some Cabernet Sauvignon and pink fizz.

What's on your New Year menu then?

We opened a tin of Roses .
I must say we are disappointed with the choices contained therein .

I like my tin/box of chocolates to contain , things like the purple wrapper ones , mars , snickers , toffee , bounty .
Not these fancy ones in this tin of Roses

I don't like the new-fangled wrappers on the Roses chocolates, Baz. Bring back the traditional ones I say.

I am really, really disappointed about the Green Triangles. They have been my favourite since I was a young child.

Something I ate. I consumed a very large cheese scone yesterday when we went out for a coffee and I'm gluten intolerant. I couldn't resist it!!

I agree .
Although there are arrows on the wrappers , indicating where to tear , I can see people with issues with their fingers struggling to open them

Cottage pie is a favourite in this house, Jourdain. I batch cook it and freeze loads down for the little one.

For the next week or two I think I'm just going to use up what we've got in the fridge. We over-bought eggs and cheese so egg in all its forms + cheese omelettes will feature frequently in the coming days.

Arky, you need to get a Chef and a Butler like Bazile! ;-)

It's a proper wintertime comfort food but it's also useful for me to hide lots of vegetables in for the nipper.

It was a 'scrambled together meal' at my sister's last night after she and I had been to the Home to see the Mater. My middle sis appeared from the Lakes just after we had got to the Fal house. Toasted Brie triangles mounted on toasted bread for canapés, fillet steak, home-made fries and a watercress, spinach and rocket salad.....washed down with a Pinot Grigio then a NZ pinot noir.
