I am thinking about organising a cofee morning at work. Its just that i have never done anything like this at work before and feel quite scared.

If i want to do it i need to go and see my boss today (tis my day off but can pop in). Its just that i work part-time in a shop where the majority of staff are female and also i have always been quite nervous and not taken on anything high profile in the store despite being there a long time.

i know i should do this as it would raise money for a charity i already do some work for but i am in such a knot with nerves.

I might just be being stupid...

but what is a "coffee morning"?

and how will you raise money from it??

why is it high profile?

ok coffee morning - people come along for a coffee and chat, just like they would on their tea break but pay for their coffee with the money going to charity, also cakes etc to buy.

by high profile i just mean in terms of organising and i dunno just not hiding away and being shy. Does that explain things?!
Steve - what a lovely idea. Buy milk and Fairtrade Coffee and Tea and buy something like doughnuts or really nice biscuits. Make sure you promote it well in advance so everyone knows, that way they can skip breakfast if they want too and bring some money (not everyone takes money to work). Make sure you have enough cups and saucers and charge the right amount.
Ask your boss if he/she has any suggestions too.
Don't feel nervous Steve it's a nice thing to do.

ok thanks.

but i am also thinking its too late. Its part of the world's biggest coffee morning raising money for macmillan cancer support and its next friday the 29th. If my boss was to say yes today i could have the fundraising pack by the end of the week and put up noticces then, so the notices would be up for a week. I am great at making cakes so could do that easily just being the host could be hard.
ask a friend at work to share the arrangements with you.

hum ok i could ask someone at work but i dont know the guys i work with are not that enthusiatic about things like this, though the women are!
Now Steve let me assure you women will get behind you with this, it's a great cause.

If you make the cakes - they will take a bullet for you!!

Go to this site http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Microsites/WBCM/Ho me.aspx

Then you can start organising now!

PS where is it cos I love cake!
even better - ask a woman.

Its a really nice idea.

Nothing to be shy about, just something to be proud of!

Send an email around the office maybe informing them of the event and if anyone would like to help....?

Question Author
well ok i have done it!!

I went into work spoke to my boss and the store manager and both are very enthusiastic. I have phoned up and resgestered for the fundraising pack and hope to get it soon.

We are going to hold the event all day and it would seem a lot of the ladies at work may be able to make cakes as well as me!!

I am going to see if I can look up some word searches, crosswords and sudoko things from the internet to print and leave for people to do!
awwww bless ur heart.

Well done for over coming your fears and i hope it all goes well.

Let us know.
