Muscles Acting Strangely!

I have, in the past, had problems with the muscles in my legs. I have torn both calf muscles. The problem almost vanished when my type of Statin was changed.

Due to taking Lithium for many years, I developed problems with shaking limbs. I also developed Kidney Disease. I had to stop taking Lithium and things are a bit better,

However, I have developed problems with the muscles behind my knees. After sitting for any length of time or if I sleep with my legs bent I find that, when I stand up, the muscles seem to have seized up and I have some problem walking.

I have an area in my lower back that seizes up if I sleep on my right side - which just so happens to be my favourite sleeping position. This is a relatively new pain but I have had back problems for twenty years or so.

This problem is annoying more than incapacitating and I plan to mention it next time I am dragged into the doctor's surgery for a Diabetic check.

But could it be a nutritional issue? My Kidneys are working overtime - I am peeing for Scotland, could it be causing a muscle problem with salts and other stuff?

Does anybody have any ideas?

no ideas but I shall read answers with interest, as my legs and back increasingly object to just about anything I want to do, including sleeping.

It's weird - when we are young we could fall out of trees or fall downstairs and just laugh at our stupidity.

I'm 58 and can hurt myself just breathing. It's no fair!!
Not a Dr. Susan, maybe some blood tests required for some sort of deficiency’s.
Just guessing here Wolf, I'm wondering if it's a reaction to coming off of Lithium?
Other than that, as someone else mentioned, blood tests to rule out any deficiencies.
Two situations spring immediately to mind.
This could be a result of diabetic neuropathy or more likely an advancement of your CKD (chronic kidney disease).

As other posters have indicated blood tests may well give you an answer.

Thanks all.

I am due to go see my GP in the near future so I will see about it then.
It may be a wee while but I will get back to yous (good Scottish word) when I know the diagnosis.

Now it's time for dinner.
