Have Never Done This Before But

last night I accidently unplugged my landline phone and so now it's saying low battery.
I realised what I'd done and plugged it in to charge, but as I've never done this before, I've no idea how long it takes before I can make some calls.
When I googled it, it said 16 hours when phones are new, then 8 hours after this to fully charge.
Will I have to wait this long before I can make a call? TIA

PP I'm not even going to try to understand that, but the phone is still saying low battery and I don't want it to cut out while I'm in the middle of a phone call, so are you saying that won't happen?

it should work if you have some battery. Ignore PP most of us do.

I try not to ignore PP as he is a fellow Manc, but I am curious to know how he knows the plug is between the coal scuttle and the fire.:-)

Barsel - the amount of battery will affect how long a call you can sustain.

If you leave your phone for an hour or so, you should be able to make short calls, but that will again reduce the charge gained since you plugged back in.

Once it's sat overnight, it will be back to full charge again.

How long have you had the 'phone and for how long was it disconnected? The rechargeable batteries might need replacing.

I've had the phones for a few years now, not exactly sure how long, but I never leave them off the cradle., I always put them straight back when I've made a call, so they're charging all the time really.
I think it must have been unplugged for about 12 hours.
Just wondered if I should wait until it no longer says low battery.

I use mine as soon as the battery sign shows 1/4 full. You might need new batteries if they are not charging. My phone is only on the base when it needs charging. I have it with me around the house.

Mine doesn't give a battery indication it just cuts off, then it's time to replace the batteries. Ialways replace it after use.

Barsel, why don't you just try it? Call your mobile from your land line. If it rings, then you're a-okay.

Mozz, I tried making a call but it kept bleeping and I was still number 9 in the queue, so I put it down and will try again later or tomorrow when it should be fully charged.
There are now 2 bars on the battery icon, so it seems to be charging.
