What a great idea...blue collar cats...they keep businesses in the Washington DC area free of pests. A bit like barn cats.

Yes, I've seen that article before.
The cats in D.C. are part of a dedicated rescue program. I know many rescues here place feral or unsociable cats with farms. I wonder if any place them with city businesses.
I have the London transport payroll documents for a number of railway cats. Mostly recorded as Tom followed by the depot they worked. They were classed as employees with a wage that covered their food and vet bills.

The documents date back to the 1970s, don't know if they still have cats on the books. I did offer them to the London transport museum but they were not interested
rowan - could you consider leaving them to Oxfam in your will. That should give me enough time to work out how much they are worth so that they could be sold. ☺☺
