When did the word "good" replace fine or well? Listening to the radio and the presenter asks a guest "How are you?". "I'm good" is the response. I want to say "good at what?" Just doesn't sit well with me and I hear it on an almost daily basis. Saturday grump over!

I usually reply 'breathing and thinking thank you' when asked how I am. not good although I can be very good.
'I'm Ok thank you, how are you,' is my standard reply - even if I'm not Ok (which I rarely am!). How many people would ever answer negatively, I wonder!
Me too, pat. "I'm good" makes me think "at what?". "My bad" doesn't sound right either. But, I think they are just trends which come and go.
It's very Ozzi. They totally abuse our language ;0)
My pet hate when someone asks how are you is when they say "yes", I'm good or ok or whatever.
When you hurt yourself and are in pain and maybe in tears and someone asks you if you're ok when clearly you're not.
aelmpvw, but would it be your reply to Santa's question?
