Painful Arm

When I had my Covid jabs, I didn't really notice any discomfort where the needle went in, but last Friday I had my Shingles jab and the pain in my arm is still really bad and I can hardly lift it.
It isn't just at the site where the needle went in, it's all of my shoulder and a bit in my neck.
I've been taking paracetamol, but it isn't making any difference.
How long before its likely to feel better?
Perhaps some of you had a painful arm after having your Covid jab, how long did it last?

Did you have the Pfizer? I ask because OH did and he developed a horrible rash with pain on the injected arm. His 2nd jab then went bananas and pain and rash were body-wide. We have discovered that there is a condition named 'Covid Arm' with a rash and painful swelling. I don't think it lasted that long, but you'd have to check - and you should really inform your G.P.. I had A-Z. OH can't have a booster and I won't have Pfizer.

I didn't have any aftereffects from my Shingles vac., other than the usual sore arm for a day.

I agree that you should report any after effects that have been going on too long.

I expected a bit of a sore arm as you can get with any injection, but this has been really painful, not being able to lift my arm up at all.
Hopefully it will ease as I know I wouldn't be able to drive while it's like this.

I had exactly the same painful not the word it was like someone had stuck a knife in my arm and was twisting it. Could not understand how it could be so painful. Could not lift my arm and in my bed was awful took a good week and more to ease off.

I always have a feeling that pain and bruising is more about technique than the actual injection.

I think you are right Pixie, especially with bruising.
My arm isn't bruised, but it still isn't right and I still haven't felt I can drive yet.
Can lift it a bit higher, so I'm getting there, but it has been 5 days now.
When I went for the Covid jab, the person who did that told me to completely relax my arm and I never had a problem with any pain in the arm, and I wish I had remembered that when I had my shingles jab.
JJ, if you have it done, just remember to completely relax your arm, it might make a difference.

One client couldn't lift her arm for a few days (after booster). But just had a slightly sore arm after the vaccinations, for that day.
Don't be put off, jj... shingles is probably more painful.

What this has taught me is that whenever a needle it going to go in my arm, is to relax that arm as much as possible as I'm sure that helps.

I know about the pain of shingles as brother had it bad years ago. No I had it booked some time ago when I was in surgery for something else, they had none in the fridge - so no further booking was done.

I took chicken pox when I was over 40 years old ago and I had it very bad. It was everywhere, my friend who called (she didn't know I had it) - she told me years later that I looked like a monster, she said even my face was contorted too.
