I download a lot of music and I dont want all my hard drive space to be taken up by these music files. Im not very tech savy but I figured I could just buy a second hard drive and connect it to my desktop pc and use that drive solely for music downloads. Is that a good idea and could you suggest any particular hard drives I should purchase and whether this will affect the performance of my desktop and if so how can I make it so that this drive of music doesnt affect the performance of my pc when doing other things such as word processing, power point, internet and so forth. thank you

You could buy an external hard drive.I bought a 250GB one from Ebay for 85 and I store all of my videos and music it.Its really easy to use and once you plug it in and connect it to your USB, it simply appears as another drive.I have been using it for about a year now and have not noticed any difference in the performance of my PC.There are loads of external hard drives to choose from so you just need to choose one that suits your needsThe only downside is that they can sometimes be a little noisy if you buy one with a built in fan.
I strongly recommend TEAK36's suggestion of an external hard drive.

Keep it just for music, photos, films and so on.

Easy to use, but even better - you can easily connect it to other pcs if you wish.
