I absolutely adore this program...matching families, couples, individuals with their perfect pooch at Woodgreen Animal Shelter. 9 times out of 10, I end up shedding tears of happiness...while constantly murmuring "awwwwww!"

It is all about a girl grooming dogs and cats. Some bits are mesmerising, removing an undercoat with water- it just seems to melt away.

I can't look at anything re animals as I don't know the outcome. The only programme I will watch is POG cos I know it will be a happy ending.
My family don't know what has happened to me - I and my family were never interested in animals in our young lives and as I got older I have loved dogs. Never would I have got them if I had been working tho - got them when I retired.

I only watched it once and there was an older Asian man and his daughter or granddaughter (can't remember which) and it was fairly obvious from the start that the man wasn't over keen on having a dog, but the girl had 'persuaded' him. The chosen dog came bounding in and he barely acknowledged it and it was clear to me that he wasn't particularly a dog lover. Anyway, amazingly enough they took the dog and I said to myself 'that was a mistake' and sure enough a short time later the dog was sent back ! I'm afraid that incident put me right off the programme. I could see it definitely wasn't a 'match', so why couldn't the viewing staff of the charity see it also ...
I've watched all the series of the program, and I think that was the only case where the person wasn't meant to have a dog. Possibly a lesson that thinking you want one or being told you should have one doesnt always work. It certainly wouldn't put me off watching as there are so many success stories.
Shirley, I'd have found some reason for him not to take a dog. He clearly didn't want one.
It doesn't put me off watching, Pasta, but that man wasn't the first I thought shouldn't have been allowed to take a dog home. Several have been returned.
I like Paul O'Grady's 'For the Love of Dogs' too. He really does love them.

//...I would have stepped in and said something like 'maybe this isn't the dog for you, would you like to go away and have a rethink ?'. //...similar been done where they've suggested a different dog. In fact, in last night's episode. The second pup was perfect.
And it's certainly not just about the adopters, but also more so how the dog reacts to them.
