Discounted hotel deals - Are we being fooled!
4 Answers
Hi, We went to London and stayed at Le Meridien in Piccadilly 5* to celebrate our anniversary. We paid a discounted rate of 100 pppn for the hotel, it was our treat! When we got there the hotel appeared 5*, but the room we were in was so run down it looked 3*. We found that they had renovated the hotel on some of the floors, but on our floor no work had yet been done. I didn't even think that the reason for the discounted rates may be because these rooms were old and due to be renovated, nor was I told about this by the online booking company. Now I am wary of these deals and I would be interested to find out other people's experiences on discounted hotel deals, all bad? or are there any good ones?
Thanks, Rebecca

Experienced this myself. Hotels often fill old rooms or less desirable rooms with people paying less. This is not an excuse on their part. You are paying for a standard and if they fail to meet it then you are being miss sold in effect.
Hotels are happy to accept you and take your money so therefore feel justified in complaining, first to the reception, then the manager and if not satisfied the company. They do this because all too often they get away with it! My wife recently got a room in a Radisson (good you would think) small enough to nearly touch all the walls and no window, all for a bargain 80!
