On Building Programmes

why do they always get things so wrong - they either measure incorrectly or things don't fit where they should. Don't they watch any of these programmes themselves? Every single time something is wrong and puts the build or renovation back.

I hate this sort of programme and never watch any of them...but, I suppose, if things always went smoothly then it would be rather samey and boring?

Lankeela, that happens on MOST projects and is sort of expected.
you always want things to run to quality/time/budget, but that hardly ever happens - you cant always get all 3 (in fact hardly ever) and you have to compromise on one thing. As most people don't want to compormise on quality, and have a reasonably fixed budget, it's the time that usually slips

But surely measuring where something is going to go is a crucial part of any project - one of the worst for this is DIY SOS The Big Build - they build walls and doors then find something won't fit through them. With so called experts wouldn't you think that measuring is a basic concept they should be able to get right?
