You can pretty much say what you like about Catholics, Protestants, whatever...but Muslims, whoaaa no!!! One tiny comment and there's uproar all over the globe. Photos on the news depict demonstrators with furious facial expressions and banners. But have they really researched and considered the situation before erupting, or are they simply following like sad sheep? And this despite the fact that most terrorism of the last decade or so has been committed by people claiming to have acted in the name of Islam. How on earth is this religion attracting rather than repelling new followers?

some members of the authorities in Turkey are highly critical; ( "The owner of those unfortunate and arrogant comments, Benedict XVI, has gone down in history, but in the same category as Hitler and Mussolini", said the deputy party leader), and Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said the comments had been "ugly and unfortunate" and when asked if the Pope's trip would go ahead, he said: "I wouldn't know."

whoaa! just a minute! Turkey's state is supposed to be secular isn't it? So what is Turkish officialdom doing making religious pronouncements?

Are the EU Applications Committee watching?

Muslims react violently to the suggestion that Muslims are violent. . Er--- what ?
It's about time we had a pope who makes comments like that.

Good old Benny is a bit old school isn't he?

Bit like the standard of pope you got in the 16th or 17th centuries.

I bet he's got some wicked cardinals as well, just like the one in the three musketeers.

Sky News are reporting that an Italian nun has been murdered by Muslims by way of revenge for the Pope's comments. In other words, they've just proved his comments to be correct.
ftp
got it tattoed on your head have you matty?
The joke about all of this is that the Pope was quoting a 14th century Christian Byzantine Emperor - they weren't even his words.
Lived long enough in belfast to know what it means.
I think the Duke of Edinburgh should be the next Pope. He'd not mince his words! Being CofE dont help though
Well it might keep matt and his ftp message happy :)
I think Muslims have a right to be offended, when such comments are delivered by such a prominant person at a sensitive time. I am not Muslim, I am by default C of E, in case you think I am in any way prejudiced. As in the above post, surely the majority of us want to live in peace and harmony. When you see pictures of kids starving or dying through lack of medical care on the next broadcast, doesn't that put things into perspective?
You can say what you like about Catholics and Protestants? Yes, they really took Jerry Springer: the Opera well didn't they?
NJOK - of course we all missed the catholic fanatics blowing up finsbury park mosque because of the Jerry Springer Opera
