Why do some people never give feedback to our answers?
I answer questions because I enjoy it and I don't expect undying gratitude for my efforts. Some people are so nice when you get an answer for them, but others just ignore you. It isn't just me this happens to and I know this has been touched on before, but I think this deserves a post of its own

Have a look at the replies that have been given to someone that posts about 6 questions every week , people ask them to put all questions in one post - and what happens ? Completely ignored ! I'm all for helping , but I would like it to be a 2 way thing at times . See what others have to say .

I argree too rogerr. We have had this discussion on here many times and it alters nothing. I just ignore these people most of the time. But someone will always answer so it make no difference any way. You can keep asking them to give all the information they ignore it. You can ask them to put them in one post they ignore that too. These people are just ingnorant, they add nothing to answer bank just get their answers and go. So I think they are best ingored. It dosen't matter what we do though because someone will give them an answer. I do it myself sometime because I forget. :-)
Good morning everyone.I agree with all comments,it's a case of bad manners,or hopefully, maybe just plain forgetfulness. If someone has gone to the trouble of answering a query, then they are surely entitled to get a thank you for it;if the asker cannot be bothered to spend a matter of seconds doing this ,then perhaps we should do as JJ suggests, ignore them, and carry on as normal.
Agree with all your comments, and some of the people come on regularly, so cannot claim they are new to the site and didn't understand the way it works.
Also what is annoying is when somebody posts an ambiguous question, they are asked for further information, almost straight away,, and they do not bother replying. It's as if they have just posted a question and then gone....without waiting for a reply.
Anyway I still love the site, and I hope I have always remembered to thank people. Usually do. If I reply to anyone that any of you have boycotted...I apologise in advance, as I won't have realised.
Take care everyone!!!

Hi all,
Some of us are extremely grateful so don't be too despondent about the others who I deem as ignorant.
I firmly believe that it's a reflection of society in general, you only need to go to a shopping centre, airport, car park, bus stop etc. to see how people behave. I'm female but I always hold the door open for anyone behind me irrespective of age or sex but yet I find myself standing there doing a doorman's job!
I think that the peole who freely give answers on this site are extremely talented and generous and are much respected by genuine folk like myself, I'm never disappointed by the way answers are given so, ignore the ignorant!
Regards,
Mo

I totally agree rogerr..and it's not just on this section either.
As Mo has said it's a reflection of the society we live in. it is nice to be thanked especially if you have gone to a lot of trouble to research something for someone .Some expect you to be a mindreader by just giving clue numbers and no letters or clues....and then take umbrage when you ask for more info. That really gets my goat !
Having said that I think that Q&P is the best section on this site and the majority of the regulars are all nice people and we all seem to have a good rapport .
Best wishes
Shaney

Well I know full well I am in the minority, perhaps of just one, on this - but I could not care less whether I get a thankyou or not. I am here to help wherever I get the opportunity and if the poster does not give me a thankyou, that in no way lessens the fact that I KNOW I have helped and that is quite good enough for me. It is the posters own character which is being hurt by their not saying thanks and there is nothing I can do to change that.
People who ignore Site Rules and do not put all their questions in one post is another matter, for me. Here it is not a matter of a simple thankyou but the fact that in the fast moving world of Q and P, questions tend to go off the first page very quickly and some of these may not get the answers they would have received had they stayed at the front that bit longer.
As for the star rating system, don't get me started! It is like being back at school trying to achieve a coloured star, or even, if very lucky, a silver or gold star. I left that childishness behind over 40 years ago! I try to help and if, in trying, I fail to answer a question to the complete satisfaction of the questioner, well I have done my best to help and that is all I can do. I certainly don't need a star or three to tell me how well someone else thinks I have done - I know I have done my best to help and that is enough for me.

This is not a dig at goldenfield, I wish I had the same outlook, but I do care if I get a thank you. Not because I want praise lavished upon me for my efforts, but simply because I was brought up to say please and thank-you and that manners cost nothing but a little effort. I am apalled at the lack of them on this site and in life in general. Keep up the good work guys.
hi crofter, just thought i'd tell everyone i'm a she, when i first came on AB everyone assumed i was a he 'cause of my username, i had a reply once that told me to go away "horrible allotment man"! (just 'cause i didn't agree with something they said!) had to laugh! though if you saw me in my wellies & combies you'd proberly have to look twice! :-))
Hi all
just got in from work and I like to look back to see if my answer has been looked at by the question setter and the only way is if they give some sort of feed back, it is nice if you have looked up an answer to know if it was right or if it helped in any way. I do aggree that it is a refliection of the world we live in I work on a check out in a large supermarket and people can be very rude, but there are always the nice ones to compensate just as there are on this site. Most people are friendly and polite it is just the small minority that are not who should be left alone Ithink
