I've noticed that our washing machine seems to casue stains on cotton items, they weren't stained when i put them in and when I take them out they have dark patches on them, which I then have to re-wash, what could be causing this and what can I do?

Hi do you have children my kids used to leave crayons in pockets which would get stuck in the rim of the door, hence when item went past lovely multi coloured pattern. Otherwise try cleaning out your filter. Hope this helps good luck.

Check the rubber door seal, see if something is stuck in there, maybe just a build up of dirt.
I have had the same problem before and i think it was the rubber on seal making stains - when this happens I wash the machine with bleach insdie but wihtiout any clothes and with salt and it aseems to help
Hi the same happened to my washing I cleared out the filter there were a few coins in there but it seemed to do the trick good luck

no kids, would I put normal salt in the draw and bleach in the drum?
You can just do an empty wash on the highest temp ..you should actually do this once a year to clean up limescale build up around the rubber seal.. no detergent required good luck
I live in a soft water area so don't get limescale buildup - but never said I put salt in drawer - I rub it into drum - I read somewhere it's meant to freshen up stainless steel
If any of the fabrics are coming itno contact with hair products ... wax / mousse / gel / hairspray then beware ... these are ultimately water repellent ... when you wash them the area around the product becomes cleaner .. leaving a patch that appears to be astain ... when in fact it is just unwashed ... if this is not the answer then tell us the colour / type of stain ... do you use a liquid or liqui tabs ?
