Even if you are daft enough to believe the massaged statistics, the claim of reduced crime is disingenuous.
The period covered was when the country was in lockdown for several months. That forced change in our behaviour and that had some unintended favourable consequences.
- schools were shut so there was less congestion.
- people worked from home and did not drive to work, so there was less pollution.
- pubs were shut so there was less drunkenness and less physical assaults.
- heavy industry was shut so our energy usage changed and we generated more power from renewable sources.
All good news, but not achieved by Conservative Policies.
And so with the burglary figures. People working, and schooling from home, mean’t properties were occupied most of the day, leaving criminals with no empty properties to rob. Again, a good outcome, but because of lockdown, not the Government’s crime and policing polices.
