It’s a legitimate spelling.

There should be some indication that we are looking for an American spelling, an American flag perhaps.

It's puzzling enough without the answer being 'foreign' :-)

I got today’s word but I was surprised at the spelling - although since I believe it’s owned by the New York Times I shouldn’t have been. Then I came across another US spelling when I did one of the ‘previous’ grids. Something to bear in mind in future.

I actually got it on the first guess - someone was bitching online about the US spelling and I guessed it.

I have just been playing word master and I got ten games in a row, either it is easier sometimes and harder other times or I am actually awake and alert for once.

I got an O R on the first go, so I guessed we were looking for a word ending OR so American spelling. Got it at 3.

LITER - if a British player guessed LITRE they would have all the right letters in the wrong order.

FIBER - famed for keeping you regular, if this pops up in your daily Wordle you might be caught off guard by the spelling.

And, some words are just simplified in US English compared to British English, such as DOUGHNUT - an eight-letter word for Britons - becoming DONUT - an American five-letter possible Wordle solution.
ARMOR - such as the protective armour these tips will give you against losing your streak.

HONOR - like the honour of guessing the daily Wordle faster than your friends and followers.

LABOR - scratching your head trying to solve the Wordle of the day is certainly hard labour.

HUMOR - but you won’t have much of a sense of humour when you can’t guess today’s Wordle thanks to a US spelling.
