I think I read that the developer of wordle was American...so it makes sense that there would be American spellings.

I read that the creator is British but the person who compiled the list of words is American.

The creator is a guy named Josh Wardle, a resident of Brooklyn.

I just did todays worlde and got it in three, but when I looked at the list of answers from one of the links on this site, my correct answer was different from the one on their list. I won't say what the two words are until tomorrow as most people are asleep now and will not try to do it until later but then I will give the two answers both of which are correct.
