I'm sure most are suitably deferential but occassionally some let their overweening ambition get the better of them.
There was 'Backstairs Billy' and the Queen Mother, Di and 'her rock', Paul Burrell, and now a former valet of Prince Charles, Michael Fawcett, bringing one of the prince's charities into disrepute.
How could these people be weeded out at the recruitment stage?

Imagine waiting on the Royals, while you are on minimun wage. You are struggling to buy food or heat your gaff or fill your car with fuel. Must be a privilege......

Why should they be. If they (the RF) aren't up to "no good" there would be nothing to leak would there!
I dont think it is a problem quite honestly

Paul Burrell e.g. was acquitted after a senior member ( it H M The Queen - remembered that he had been given it )
It sounds to me like you have a chip on your shoulder. How do you know that that some staff are derferential? Maybe they are happy working where they are working.
I pity the poor souls who work for The Duke of York :(

sandy, I have seen in the press adverts placed for the Royal Household. The wages are rock bottom and I wouldn't envy those involved in the short listing/interviews.
I watched an interview with royal protection officer. He said the way PA spike to them sometimes, was truly awful. Calling them names and using bad language at him and others.

In answer to your question - The Lady magazine used to be where the royals and others used to advertise.
Do you really think that anybody loves and respects people who are totally dependent on their underlings to do all their boring and messy stuff, and to bow and curtsey, and to pick up the clothes that they drop to the floor at night and to do the washing up and cleaning and be treated as naturally lower down the chain of life?
no wonder the Queen's great-great-grand mother's knickers were sold, is it - and still available on things like Antiques Roadshow, is it?
o god I thought this was where does the Royal Family recruit its members from

dont envy them- having to be posh all day
The examples you gave all became as they were as a result of their royal employ, and probably gave no indication of it at the initial interview, or the first period of employment.
but if you were to get 'grace and favour' or heavily subsidised accommodation in the centre of London or wherever?
I think I could work for the Queen, Princess Anne and Billy, they seem to have most of the class in the gang.
what about the Queen Mum, though that May be a stiff challenge.
I don't know. I do remember my dad showing me a letter, of which the family had been very proud, from a family member who was a butler to Queen ~Victoria. I wish I'd paid more attention - they've disappeared --- but I was only 8 or 9!
Crowbar moment:

A case of Victoria expunge?

I've already got me coat.
In answer to the question: A Canadian company known as Royal LePage.
Prolebank Ltd, or maybe HoiPoloi4rent?
We've a place in our wee town that does a full valet for £25 AND you get a free air freshener.
For some it's a career move, work for the UK royals even minor ones then after a few years switch to the US and get a far better pay/perks set up.
