Deleting Dictionary Words In Libre Office
7 Answers
Sometimes when i run a spell check on Libre it brings up all kind of alternatives to simple words - for instance, if i write shes, then spellcheck to add the punctuation, she's is at the bottom end of a list of words some of which seem like theyre not even real words, or its baffling how the tool thinks theyre more likely than shes being she's.
add to that - i actually had to input She's & He's into the dictionary myself - they werent even in there!
i cannot understand why they wouldnt be in there already.
so i wondered if there was a way to delete various words that i know i will never ever need or use to lessen this happening every single time?
thanks

It is annoying that the correct word sometimes appears at the bottom of a list of suggestions. But if you write shes, I'd expect shed to be higher than she's on the list (for instance), and some of your lists may be proposed on the same basis.
I'm constantly entering what seem like obvious words into my dictionary (I use Open Office, not Libre) and at least it means it will know next time.

Jno, yes i wouldnt mind those kinds of substitutes, they make sense, but some are just ridiculous. I keep adding words which is good but even they come up at the bottom of the list & it still brings up all the other options first.
im assuming the file that the dictionaries are installed from only works within the software, but there must be some other way to open the resource files & edit them.
"Fancy Software"? Pahaha are you having a laugh? imagine thinking access to a dictionary in a word processor/office suite is fancy software, :D

i just typed in shes - it brought up shed & she & the 3rd word was sshes ... sshes? im pretty sure thats not even a word.
She's was number 9
Hes brought up he, then a few hems, meds, hews & a few others like that - i get that theyre all feasible to be typos but not before he's surely.
but there was also heps, hies & xen before he's ...
He's was 11th.
