Vauxhall Grandland X 1.2.
Travelling back from Bristol to S Wales. Pulling away to negotiate a roundabout Warning error appeared on the dash display “ Engine Problem Stop car” coupled with a jerky forward motion. As luck, there was a lay-by to pull into. Stopped for a few minutes. Turned on the ignition. Error message had disappeared. Continued journey at a low speed.. Did some research and this model is plagued by problems. Same engine in Peugeot and Citroen. Which have had a recall to fix. Vauxhall haven’t. Some dealers deny there is a problem. Had the car picked up and transported to my local Vauxhall dealer. Was advised it could be a 70/30 repair bill. Shouldn’t they pay it all. Even the diagnostic.

If you can provide sufficient evidence of the fact that it is a common fault to the model, it might lead to a vehicle recall.
Besides gathering evidence, clearly the fault has the potential to result in a serious accident should it occur as you are turning across fast oncoming traffic (or other such similar situation).
Also check-out other vehicle recalls, to see if this type of vehicle fault has resulted in a recall.
The ombudsman may be able to help you obtain redress from the garage (if they expect you to contribute to the repair costs) – but normally you will have to have exhausted the garage’s complaints procedures before the ombudsman will adjudicate the matter.
