Whilst true figures will always be disputed I wonder what Putin would consider to be an acceptable number for him to achieve his aims ?
I understand it is a moot point as the human cost of lives lost will not register with him regardless of whether it is Russian soldiers or Ukrainian civilians
What would be an uncomfortable number before the Duma or his own generals acted ?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Sticky; I was told by the Ukrainian builders working next door last January (2021) that they were not Russian, and that Ukrainian and Russian were different languages. I don't know much about all this, but I got the impression that they were not fond of Russia.
Closer to home; look at the way that ABers seem to portray Scots and English. How would the Scots feel if England invaded Scotland? (Cue howls of outrage at such a ridiculous analogy!)

Ukraine estimates Russian military losses so far to include:
4,300 deaths
27 planes
26 helicopters
146 tanks
706 armoured fighting vehicles
49 cannons
1 Buk air defence system
4 Grad multiple rocket launch systems
30 vehicles
60 tankers
2 drones
2 boats
However the Russian defence ministry has pointed out that they have to date suffered zero casualties, so apologies for the above :-)

I can't believe those figures, Ich. 4,300 Russians dead - how? The only way to have done that within a few days would be to drop bombs on towns surely - and as far as I'm aware the Ukraine isn't doing that - is it?
I think we're getting a lot of propaganda from both sides - but that isn't surprising.

To be honest I don't know how anyone assesses these things, but Ukraine is very well equipped to take out military convoys, and they are still able to shoot down aircraft. Two Ilyushins came down yesterday, which is probably a total of 200 paratroopers.
And as I posted further up, a convoy of 56 tanks was taken out last night.
It doesn't take long for those figures to mount up

Don't forget that Russia's military is moving in the open and is therefore very vulnerable to attack. It's easier to protect yourself if you are defending.
That may be why Russian military vehicles have been able to enter Kharkiv: rather than engage a superior force in resisting, better perhaps to retreat and engage in urban fighting.
I think this may be what will happen in Kyiv.
