A couple days a week me and my dad have a caretaker that comes by the home to maintain things a little. During that time the family basset hound is put in the backyard as she usually hostile toward people she doesn't know. Unless it's to relive herself she never likes being back there alone and will bark badly until she's let back in. The caretaker works at the home for 4 hours how long will the dog bark until she get tired of it?

Your neighbours will get annoyed about it long before your dog even considers not barking.

One of them may contact your local animal control to complain.

Have you tried introducing your dog to the caretaker?
Give your dog a treat of some description so that she sees strangers coming in as a positive experience, and yes, as Wolf says, let her meet the caretaker in a controlled way, unless she’s a biter, in which case don’t.
You should ask yourself the Question; "Why is she barking" answer: Because she is trying to alert you/ the family/ the pack, that there is a unknown presence which might mean danger, it is her nature to do this. wolf is right, you must introduce her properly to the caretaker, let him give her food & show he is no threat & the problem should abate.
Excellent advice given by the above three posters.
Give the caretaker some dog treats and get him to give some to the hound outside. Then ask him to move slowly into the house and let her follow while still feeding her some treats. By then he will be her best friend and they should be OK in the house together, giving the odd treat if necessary.
