Problem With Paypal
7 Answers
Every time I make a purchase with Paypal it is showing as a 'recurrent payment' when it appears on my credit card statement. The bank aren't very helpful and say they can only act if another payment were to be taken out, which hasn't happened. Does anyone know how I could contact Paypal about this issue just to stop it happening. Is there a phone number?

Just makes me nervous as I did unwittingly once sign up to a recurring yearly payment many years ago and had to try and claim it back afterwards. I thought it had been a single one time purchase but clearly I hadn't checked the small print.
With Paypal it just means that if you use them again the money will be debit'd from your bank account . The alternative might be for you to close your paypal account each time after you buy something & then apply to open a new one next time you want to buy something via Paypal... which sounds hard work
Once the single payment has been made, cancel it - it then becomes "inactive" (it doesn't affect the payment already made providing it's gone through). If a future payment to that seller is required just set up a new payment as you usually would. The recurring facility is a Paypal feature to save users the "chore" of setting up each payment for suppliers you use frequently. If you don't trust Paypal to operate it (which I don't) then do as above.
P.S. Your post reminded me I still had one active so off I went and cancelled it. It certainly works for me.
