Bit of an odd one. I have two clues to get which interlink, ^ being the common letter:

10a Rooms we’re acceptable but lacking finish S?I?^

7d Kitchen utensil S?^?E?

If 10a is SUITE that indicates 7d is SIEVES but the clue is singular. If 7d is SLICER that makes 10a S?I?I which gives nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks. Looks like Suite and Skewer. I have to say the 10a clue is not great as it indicates SUITABLE with the end missing but that would give SUITA
