//Over 300 deaths yesterday.//
Not in Scotland there weren’t. And in any case, how many of those “Covid” deaths were caused by Covid and not by something else (with the deceased just happening to test positive for Covid whilst being treated for another condition)? It is now widely accepted that at least 50% (and some reports suggest even more) of deaths attributed to Covid were not caused by the virus.
//…. sensible business's know there staff and customers.. especially vulnerable... don't want people coughing and sneezing over them.//
You’ve mentioned this time and again bob. And I keep asking: where do you go that people cough and sneeze all over you. I cannot recall anybody, ever, coughing and sneezing over me, especially not in the last two years.
//If masks help even by only 10% it's worth it IMO. who knows what Scotland rates would of been without masks//
The answer is “probably about the same”. The age-old (well, at least two year old) mantra: “What would have happened if we hadn’t done x, y or z?” The answer is we don’t know because no proper analysis has been done to test the efficacy of inappropriate face coverings worn incorrectly and treated wrongly (which is what 99% or wearers do to a greater or lesser degree). What is apparent is that the spread of the virus in England (where masks are not mandated and few people wear them) is considerably lower than in Scotland, so there is a “control” of sorts to use as a comparison and the results are plain to see.
The plain fact is that little, If anything other than complete isolation from all other people, will prevent the virus from spreading and wearing an ill-fitting’ flimsy face covering certainly won’t. It’s blindingly obvious from the figures. Countries that have adopted a “zero Covid” strategy are now finding, to their cost, that it was never going to succeed. Everybody will be exposed the SARS-Cov-2 virus, probably many times in their lives. Walking around with an ill-fitting mask is utterly pointless.
//I continue wearing my mask in busy public places like I have during the pandemic.//
But to what purpose? It was largely accepted that the benefits of face coverings (as little as they were) were only for people around the wearer and not the wearer himself. Since so very few people are now wearing face coverings you are not gaining that benefit. For that matter neither are those around you because there are so many unmasked people around them. If you want to protect yourself then by all means invest in an FFP3 mask and wear it as per the instructions for the foreseeable future. Wear anything else and you're wasting your time:

//...but I will carry on until the deaths, hospitalisations and cases are a lot lower.//
Then you're in for a long haul.
