This from Putin on western sanctions is scarcely believable:
The irony klaxons are drowning out the air raid sirens
“All these sanctions were prepared in advance, they would have been introduced in any case. These are sanctions on our right to freedom, our right to be independent, the right to be Russia. For the fact that we do not want to dance to someone else’s tune, to sacrifice our national interests and traditional values.”
Is he not saying this to hoodwink his own Russian citizens? By all accounts a high percentage of Russia are unaware of what's going on because they have no access to world news.
He's disappointed with the attack because he said its not going to help with peace talks. Do you think the Ukrainians should say sorry, we didn't mean it? :)
The Belgorod attack if it was an attack is odd because it’s a pretty amazing feat by Ukraine’s Air Force if true.
Let’s hope it is.
If it’s a “false flag” the rhetoric is somewhat muted: “it’ll affect the peace talks” Good: we don’t want peace talks we want victory
The problem is in war the first casualty is the truth. And this is for all sides.
Now clearly Putin is telling a few porkies, but no doubt so is his opposition. Propaganda is a valuable tool, thing is what is propaganda and what isn't on all sides?
I think the difference is Russia uses lies for propaganda and Ukraine uses selected or sometimes “selected” facts.
While the Russians deliberately blast hospitals, rape women and children and seem incapable of fighting facing up to their crimes and their losses. They freeze the bodies of dead Russians for future collection while Russia secretly cremated their own
