Ah. I would only disagree in part with your 3rd paragraph. Putin is pretending and creating a false picture to the Russian population, to achieve personal goal.

Savile Created a false picture of himself to achieve his own personal goal, or what he considered to be personal pleasure.

^ I think most abusers do. There must be thousands across the country who are fooling everyone around them, or it wouldn't happen.
Savile and Rolf Harris always seemed blatantly off... but there are others found, that I would never have suspected, and some that I am surprised, weren't. I think putting on an act, is how it works.
