The raising of the State Pension age was proposed by an all-party commission in 2006, with legislation following in 2007. That was under Tony Blair's Labour administrati on. Further legislation, to accelerate the timetable for the changes, then followed in 2011, under the Conservative /LibDem coalition led by David Cameron.
