I do not live in Wakefield, but if I did I would consider these simple facts: 1. Has Boris, warts and all, proved to be a leader on the world stage. 2. Is it fair to blame the ousted member instead of blaming the Conservative party. 3. Do you really wish for Keir Starmer to occupy Number Ten. 4. Do you wish the PM to resign because of a fixed penalty ticket. For me, and herein only me, I say Yes - No - No - and No.

There was a by-election in a Co Durham ward last night previously held by the Conservatives and the new Conservative candidate was obliterated.

It will probably go to Labour. The next General Election will be far more interesting.

Most, if not all, of these red wall constituencies will return to labour. It was quite clear that the votes were only lent to the Tories so they could implement the will of the people, which the others refused to do.

Labour lost 60 seats to the Conservatives (and gained 1) in 2019. If voters who lent their votes to the Conservatives to get Brexit done, now consider that task completed, and revert back, 2024 could be very close. Johnson seems to be plssing off quite a lot of die hard core Conservative voters too.

In my view, a lot of the serves to the Conservatives were less to do with the voters wanting Boris Johnson, than categorically not wanting Jeremy Corbyn.

Now that the most foolish man in modern politics is no longer their prospective PM, they may well shift back again.

I think the manifesto and Mr Corbyn were interchangeable - neither had the remotest link to reality.
