Do you live in America Bobbie?
Question Author
No. I wondered about that. I live in the West Country uk
Did you enter any competition where that was the prize? The number of lotteries i've won and haven't even entered..............
You always have to ask yourself if you have entered into anything that could have won you a gas card, if not then its needs to be ignored I would think.

It's very odd to win something with Dollars. I haven't entered anything, and I am reluctant to give people my email address also
Are you having us all on a bit??
Question Author
Of course not Sandra. Why would you think that?
Common sense springs to mind may be?

If you are going to be rude you know what you can do !!!!
If something seems too good to be true then I usually is. Unless you have entered a competition to win a US gas card then it’s a scam. Delete.
Do you have Shell service-stations in the UK?
Yes we have Shell petrol stations in the UK, sanmac.
"Please note that Shell Group companies are NOT involved in any lottery or mobile draws, e-mail/sms (grant) awards"

bobbie; we don't have 'gas' (meaning petrol) or dollars in the UK. That's a big giveaway, plus the fact that you haven't entered any competition to win the money. My advice is to mistrust any e-mail that seeks to persuade you that something good and unexpected has happened to you out of the blue; unless you actually know the person who is mailing you.
