I agree it's a totally meaningless comparison. The trouble is, in British culture and probably worldwide, it's always been such a challenge for a man to hook a woman then the more he gets, the more successful he becomes.
But women just have to sit in a bar for half an hour in a nice dress (or whatever the 2004 equivalent is) and they can usually take their pick. Hence the opportunity to become 'easy' and as there's no challenge whatsoever, no status attached to it. What a sad world it is.
