I saw an article about a video with no cassettes. You basically plus it in to your TV and programme what you want to record and it tapes it all onto a hard drie memory. It takes out the ads and the credits for you, and can tape multiple chanels at the same time. Also , say you like tom cruise, it will automatically tape everythng with tom cruise on, without you even programming it, even if is 2 minute slot on this morning! Anyone have any idea what theyre called, where i can get one and roughly how much they are?

I think you are talking about TIVO. www.tivo.com or www.tivo.co.uk Tivo never really took off in the UK. Sky initally helped market it back in 2001. However Sky then implemented there own system SKY+. Tivo has since become more devolped in the states with the features you mention. It is available in the Uk but with limited features.

Where can I buy a TiVo? As Thomson have now stopped manufacture (see here) finding TiVo's is quite hard. Note TiVo have not pulled out of the UK - they are now trying to find a new hardware partner to bring their Series 2 product to the UK, however this is not likely to happen in the near future (late 2003 earliest - nothing has been announced as of yet and may never happen).
