I'm dead hard, me. I can sit through Dumbo without feeling a twitch of emotion, never get teary watching tv or reading a book. Hard luck stories leave me cold. I didn't even cry when Hayley died (Corrie, for those who don't watch it) but one song always has me blubbing, and I don't know why. If it plays whilst I'm driving I have to turn it off.

Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran, always reminds me of my wonderful Mum and never fails to make me weep.

barry - did you cry when Vera came back for Jack when he died ?
I'm not generally the emotional type. Indeed, I've only cried just once in the past 60 years (when my one of my cats was killed by a car in November 2021). However I struggle to listen to Simon & Garfunkel's 'Bright Eyes'.
Ken - // Released in '86, Freddie died in '91. Hardly nearing the end. //

Freddie was diagnosed as HIV Positive in 1985, and in those days, he knew it was only going to end one way, and far too soon.
Daniel, Elton John
He ain't heavy, he's my brother, The Hollies
I remember being around 6 years old with my mum brushing my hair before school when Terry Jacks 'Seasons in the Sun' came on the radio and I burst into tears. It still makes me sad to this day.
Oh yes, Bright Eyes always brings a tear to my eyes. Was that just Art Garfunkle song or did Paul Simon write it? Anyway, I can't watch Watership Down for fear of crying! Lol
tigger - // Was that just Art Garfunkle song or did Paul Simon write it? //

It was written by Mike Batt of Wombles fame, who wrote a lot of Katie Melua's early songs.
7:30 am yesterday I sat in a traffic jam in Tübingen, in a cream- coloured Mercedes taxi, being driven by my wonderful local lady taxi driver/owner, when on her radio came;

It brought back memories so profound of people gone & lost that I confess to tears as I sat there in the back, having not heard it for many years.
I could write a novella on this.
