Wireing Up HouseHold Lights - Petal-type

Hi,

I am trying to wire two rooms up and having no luck at all.

There are two rooms which we call A & B.

In Room A is a wire that is coming into the room which is supplying the power, it has three wires coming out of it. Live, Earth & Neutral, in fact all wires have this in this case.

In Room A is a petal light fixing.

In Room B is a petal light fixing. With a wire running from it in to Room A.

In Room A is a light switch on the wall that I want it to when opertated two turn both lights on and both lights off.

I no that this is basic science at the way to achieve this is two place the switch in front of the two lights. But what components do I need to do this?

Like maybe a junction box or something if so how do I wire this up?

Nearly forgot I have moved / postion all the wire endings into one piont. That just need to be connected up. I have tryed a few times, with which I thought was the right to do this but has resulted in the cirect breaker kicking in or. When the light in Room A is on then Room B is off and when you press the switch again it reverse.

Any help or ideas would be much appriacted. I now that I could get an electrician in but money is very sparse and I wanted some free friendly advice.

Trying to describe this in text is very difficult so have a look at the attached link which explains with diagrams how the cable that runs down to the light switch is linked up to the ceiling rose. The difference is that you want two lights from the one switch. It means you must connect them in parallel, so the the Live wire that has been down to the switch and then back up to the junction box is connected inside the box to BOTH of the Live cables that then go off to the Rooms A and B.
You must have a two-way switch and you are attempting to use all three terminals in the switch box if you are getting the lights to alternately toggle. You only need to use two of the three terminals, labelled COM and either L1 or L2. (You need to use the switch as a one-way switch only). The link I give you says such work must be checked by a qualified electrician.
