With the price of food on the up including all the naughty treats of sweets and chocolates, plus takeaways may become a lot less affordable. Do you think it will help obesity problems?

our classes were split into woodwork (m) and cookery (f) but I dont know if this was standard.
It was certainly only to girls in my day. The boys did woodwork. My DS teacher was the school Fanny and put me off cooking for life.

During my school days (1940's) yes, only the girls were taught Domestic Science.
They teach Home Economics, but not anything useful like how to cook a decent meal. It’s all ‘Design a Pizza’ type things.

I drove past a McD’s this morning and cars were queuing round the block. I don’t think they’ll suffer.
I was taught Home Ec at school and it was open to all sexes, we were taught how to cook a 3 course meal of various budgets
But
My main experience was at home from my parents both of whom could cook

As @ naomi24 the average family could spend £20 in macs, and for what? rubbish in my view, for one sitting.

500g mince beef £3, bag carrots 50p, frozen peas 80p, bag onions50/60p, 2.5kls tatters around £1, veg stock tablets £1. Total 6.90. Makes a hell of lot of cottage pie. :)
