The Americans go in for the short to long vowel change
present ( prezznt) as preeezent

trachea ( truh-key-uk) as tray-kya

weird - remember dictionaries in English record use ( including wrong use, er if it is used)
I was mulling something similar on the long drive North this morning.

Ambience and ambient.
Then I finished mulling and went on to muse.
I have not and probably never will use the word in the OP!

preeezent as in preeezent arms, no doubt?
banal as bay-null
really WILL get them staring
and then ( if you are a man)
you can pretend do your flies, and say

also I think Americans use "presently" to mean "now" rather than "soon" as the British do.
