I'm a newcomer and I'm very shy and sometimes the pastor will come round the congregation asking us what makes us cheerful, happy, and if we've had a good week so far, etc. I hate having this in church. Am I wrong to feel this way? I want to find another church now and find this 'on the spot' childish and embarrassing. It doesn't matter where you sit, this happens most weeks and plainly it's just not for me.
Sure find a church that you are comfortable with. Maybe answer their question by saying what pleases you is not having some individual thrust a microphone in your face and ask questions. It'd give them something to debate.
No you are not wrong, I too dislike the new forms of ‘ worship’ & find it very difficult to find a service using the BCP.
It seems the congregations nowadays like this inclusiveness but it isn’t for everyone
You're not wrong as far as I'm concerned, I would hate it too. Do you like the form of worship apart from this? If so have a word with the pastor and tell him how you feel, if not look for another church.
