For those who have lost either some weight or excessive weight as I find it quite it difficult.

I just can't do without carbs and of course am not a vegetable eater so what the hell do I eat - only stuff myself with the wrong foods.

I admire yous all.

Goodness you have diabetes so why would you not give it up?
Question Author
helen - you are gonna die with something but can I say until a blood test said so - I never ever ever had symptoms of diabetes, ie no excess of urine, no dry mouth, never needed to drink water etc etc - so absolutely no symptoms.

I have a blood test with nurse this Friday and so don't know what they will say.

Also got eyes tested yesterday and it has been 2018 since my last test so I was expecting optician to say oh there is sugar there in the eyes (if you know what I mean) - couldn't believe he said eyesight is exactly the same as 2018. That I couldn't believe.

Also I can't get on with exercise I am having a bad episode of fibromyalgia all over my body - knees are killing me right now. Have a physio appnt also late on Friday night - cos I can't go on with this pain.
Sorry I am confused - you have been saying for years that you have diabetes.
You don't need to exercise to lose weight.
I am not saying its easy but you have a bigger reason than most - didn't you watch your brother die due to side effects of diabetes?
Question Author
Helen - can't remember which brother that was - one had cancer then died, other had successful heart operation and then died. They might have had a wee bit of diabetes but diabetes didn't kill them. I genuinely can't remember.

But two nephews are in 40s they are Type 1 and on insulin but they are "bad" boys too. But they are still living Thank God.
Jj, diabetes puts a person at more risk of heart disease, and also doubles the risk of certain types of cancer.
I've lost 26 lbs since January. I started the weight loss for medical reasons as I was ok with my figure, size 12- 14, but GP said I was way over my BMI. The only way I found successful is to go very low carb ans swap out high carb treats for low carb. You can get packs of zero carb savoury treats that taste fantastic -much better than crisps -and high protein breakfast bars that will hit the sweet spot -don't eat a whole one, cube them and snack on them like candy. What really helps is giving yourself a 'day off' followed by a day where you keep your food intake down.
JJ, you have confused me. You have said before that you have Type 2 diabetes and the GP gives you a 'wee tablet' for it. You have asked questions about what you should eat to lower your blood sugar readings.

I never had any symptoms of diabetes either and was totally shocked when I was tested. Never had the dry mouth, the weeing a lot. Oddly, I do now have a constant dry mouth and dry eyes as I have developed Sjögren's syndrome, which is not very common in men.
