Do government ministers (and Boris) believe benefit claimants get so much money that they can afford to buy a house, or do they think houses cost of the order of £50k?

I know young people who have fairly well paid jobs, but have no chance of buying a house since mortgage companies will only lend around four times salary – and no house can be brought for less than £200k within a very long commute.

This is only going to help a very low number of households total, so even if they all default it’ll only amount to a rounding error of all the other billions this government are wasting.

Should Boris’s plans come to fruition, in 25 years time there will be benefit claimants who have been sponging off the State all their lives, who as a result are home-owners; whereas those who have been working all their adult life and paying tax, but unable to afford a mortgage, won’t be so fortunate.
