I was in a local supermarket this morning and thought I'd stock up on some tins of cheap beans. At 29p they were good value. There were none there. Their place on the shelves had been filled with Heinz beans costing more than a pound a tin. At that price a meal of beans on toast could be beyond the reach of some shoppers.
Is Brexit partly to blame?
I suspect there is also an element of marketing strategy as it's strange how it's only the cheapest options that seem to be unavailable. Noticed it with tomato ketchup, and some frozen products recently.
