How do you receive the digital channels? Is it through a set top box, Sky, Cable or does your new tv have the built in freeview?

My new TV has a built in freeview, and I can get quite a few more channels, which surprised me.
Silly question, but bear with me.

To access the digital channels on your tv, what do you have to do?
OK, this is probably a lot more simple than you think - soooooooo many people make the same mistake. It sounds like your TV is Digital, but you have to remember your video is not. All you have on that are the basic 5 channels and the AV sockets.

Now by putting a Freeview box at one end, the video in the middle, and the TV at the other end, it is possible to record any freeview channel providing the AV sockets are set up right. MAYBE it is possible to also record from a digital TV (I don't know) using the AV sockets, but two things I DO know are that the video has to be set to record on the AV channel, and, most important, the TV must be on and set to the channel you want to record....which sort of defeats the object of needing to record it, but that's the way it is.

Hope I've surmised right and you can get what I am saying - basically, if you want to record Freeview, you'll either need a seperate box or a freeview integrated recorder.
You most certainly can record the digital channels from an integrated freeview tv and non-freeview video.

The trick is to connect it properly and set the recorder manually, usually to record EXT2 or AV, then the date and time.

The tv will have be switched on to the channel you want to record.
