Builder do you think this is great.

I went for my very first time on even touching a Clarinet yesterday and with all this craic around the emboucherie (sp) I was able to tune 5 notes.

Was that good or was the wee lad/teacher having me on.

I am spending a good hour on the YouTube on trying to form the proper embrocherie. And I think because I am not getting whistling or wailing and not a bad note - I may become like Acker Bilk.

Was 5 notes good Builder. Appreciate your opinion. Thanks

Your link works fine for me, TB.

However all Yahoo content is simply ripped from other sites. So here's the original source of the article, which Jennyjoan might find it easier to access:

Under the circumstances, what a terrible typo in the opening sentence of linked article "profoundly dead". No editorial checking presumably - very poor journalism.

Good luck with the clarinet JJ, I admire your efforts.

thanks for the link Chris - very nice to read and of course she is one of the lucky ones in that all that has happened today. In my day - I would have been a cast off - not intentionally or hurtfully but just because I was deaf. But all my life was always interested in music and at 12 in a mainstream school won an award "Heidi" book for music for playing a recorder. Still have the book. However when I practised upstairs "Oh my darling Clementine" so much family thought they were going to break the ceiling down as I repeated so much.

I do know if I had the chance today I would have been very responsive to music but sure there was no money and nobody would have had the belief in me anyway but anyway better late than never.

No don't worry about neighbours as there is a gentle sound of Clarinet when learning and sure the oul TV was on. I'm loving it so much I do hope I keep it up
Someone I know taught himself to play the Saxophone, Flute and Piano whilst he was also learning the cornet. He's played at the RAH and is now Head of Music at a school in Lancashire.
Another person I know learnt the Sax at the age 48, so it can be done jennyjoan! Go for it!

well 10 Clarion Street - the friend you know definitely has been a musical genius and also has learned to play by "ear" ie didn't have to read music. What a talent.
