I'm 14. My life long dream is to be an actress and be known in the world, but I know how difficult the industry is. I'm scared that I'll fail and never reach my dream and make it in the industry. Does anyone have any advice? I'm feeling stuck.

You are still young, concentrate on your schooling and go for drama etc for Alevels. If you are in the UK Lots of theatre schools offer summer courses, see if you can get into one. Some offer Saturday classes. Think about transferring to a theatre school for sixth form.
If there is a local theatre company near you think about joining

How can you feel "stuck" in a future career when you're still at school. Do school plays, get cosy with your drama teacher, look for theatre opportunities locally. READ PLAY SCRIPTS & ACT THEM OUT. Go for auditions, get your arris into gear! It's hard , takes years of work (and no work) and seldom pays off.

The important thing is, to have your parent's support.
Talk to them about your hopes and ambitions and ask them to support you in your dream of becoming an actress.
They may have other ambitions for you and may want you to study in an area that will give you more "job security".
That is understandable as most parents would want their children to have a settled successful future.
But if your dream is not just a temporary whim, and as you mature into adulthood your dream is still the same, hopefully your parents will support you and help you to gain the experience and tuition you will need to become an actor.
The kind of experience and tuition I am referring to is gained at drama school - unless you have independent means of support, you will need your parents to support you financially in this - but talk to the drama teacher at your school, or the careers teacher.
Don't let go of the dream and if you persevere, it will happen.

Try and secure your qualifications because the acting profession is incredibly hard to make a living in - around nine out of ten professional actors are 'resting' at any one time - that means they are working at something else to support themselves while going for auditions.

If you have the luck and the talent - in that order! - you will be successful, but be prepared for a long and hard road which may not give you the level of success you want.

But no actor, at any level, ever got there without having the dream you have, so carry it with you, and every success with your chosen path.

I have dreams and just because they are hard to achieve doesn't mean I won't try. I know how difficult the industry is and how unlikely it is that I'll make it, but doubting myself isn't gonna get me any

Go for it! Dreams are free, you can have all you want. They are also priceless, so look after them.

And secondly, good for you for your determination.

Dreams can take you beyond the everyday routine. Stay with them. Ignore anyone who laughs or scoffs or tries to make fun of your dreams. Those people dont have a place in your future.

Even getting into drama school isnt easy. get in and follow the course

From my school - (500) only one has made it - Nicholas Gecks who is hearth stone in the Rumpole series

Cambridge - 1962 - Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden, Frost, Cleese - then virutally nothing for fifty years until Laurie and Fry, then Branagh and Thompson

In my year at Cge - Simon Jones ( Lord Bridie, Brideshead and Ford Prefect, Hitch-hiker)

and THAT is it....It is nice to see bit part players making it, but hell it is rare - Saul in Just Call Saul was hired for one episode in Breaking Bad ( the lolly pop bank where the Feds were waitig) and made it. Jonathan Banks too. Rami X who played Freddie Mercury has made it. Oh, Michael Caine in Zulu 1964.

Elisabeth Crowfoot ( a country girl from Beccles) was a starlet and joined Donald Wolfit 's touring company in the thirties. Soon after her debut she got a rave review and her career looked set fair.

Unfortunately Donald W cd not abide people who got better reviews than him, and used to fire them. He fired her. She didnt work as an actress again. She had a career else where.

Her sister Dorothy Crowfoot married a Hodgkin. ( same school Beccles Grammar) and got a Nobel Prize for the crystalline structure of Vit B12. you cant tell the future.

As Andy Hughes said follow your dream but make sure you concentrate on your school work so that when you leave you’ve got something under your belt to earn from when you’re not acting. Acting is a very volatile profession so taking care of your job prospects in other areas is really important.
